Similarly, the antioxidant, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) attenuates both chronic hypoxia- and monocrotaline-induced pulmonary hypertension [42, 49, 50], and overexpression of SOD reduces pulmonary hypertension resulting from chronic hypoxia [45], monocrotaline [51], and in lambs with prenatal ligation of the ductus arteriosus [52]. Here, SOD1 is linked to pulmonary hypertension.
