The CLARINET study is a Phase III randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multinational study of the somatostatin analogue (SSA) lanreotide in patients with advanced, well-differentiated or moderately differentiated, non-functioning, somatostatin receptor-positive NETs of Grade 1 or 2 (a tumour proliferation index [on staining for the Ki-67 antigen] of <10%), with tumours originating in the pancreas, midgut or hindgut, or an unknown origin [3]. The gene discussed is MKI67; the disease is neoplasm.
