Mutations in the genes encoding for the proteins of mTOR associated BRN can lead to different types of cancers including sporadic cancers, hamartoma syndromes or phakomatoses, cowden syndrome (PTEN), neurofibromatosis (NF1, NF2) and peutz–Jeghers syndrome (LKB1) (Menon and Manning, 2008). The gene discussed is MTOR; the disease is cancer.
