We tested PBT434 for its ability to preserve neuronal viability and connectivity, motor function, α-synuclein accumulation and markers of oxidative stress in three animal models of PD: the Parkinsonian toxins 6-OHDA and MPTP, and hA53T transgenic mice (which overexpress human α-synuclein bearing the alanine to threonine mutation at position 53, which causes familial PD). Here, SNCA is linked to Parkinson disease.
