A slight growth decrease in CSPG4− melanoma tumors (in a mouse model exposed to anti-CSPG4 immunotherapy) was observed by Wang et al. [4], suggesting that the depletion of activated pericytes may suppress angiogenesis (a crucial feature of tumors) while also reducing the number of viable pericytes lining blood vesicles which may sensitize tumors to penetrating therapeutic agents.
