In line with our findings of MCP1+ cells present in close proximity and displaying cell-cell contact with diseased CSMN apical dendrites in MCP1-CCR2-hSOD1G93A mice, many of the ALS patient Betz cells also had MCP1+ cells in close proximity and at times aligned in line with apical dendrites (Fig. 1d–g). The gene discussed is CCR2; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
