Recently, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) conducted genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic profiling of 230 lung adenocarcinomas revealing that 73% of the tumours studied showed activation of the Ras/Raf cascade downstream of a Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTK) at the level of genomic alterations and gene expression, but only a subset of those tumours showed aberrant activation of this cascade at the protein level3. The gene discussed is NTRK1; the disease is neoplasm.
