The purpose of our investigation was to extend the work to include other important cytokines generated during infection and inflammation: IL-13, IL-1β, IL-6, lymphotoxin-α, M-CSF and GM-CSF, examining whether this relates to changes in CRIg protein expression level to enable us to evaluate the effects on the two spliced forms of CRIg, as well as assessing effects on mature macrophages. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and infection.
