Candidate genes have been investigated in the postmortem brains of suicide victims, such as Gamma‐amino butyric acid type A (GABAA) receptor (Poulter et al., 2008), Glucocorticoid receptor (hGR1 h) (Labonte et al., 2012), and brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) promoter (Keller et al., 2010), but there is common genetic predisposition between SZ and MDD (Chen et al., 2015; Eker, Yavasci, Cangur, Kirli, & Sarandol, 2014; He et al., 2014). Here, BDNF is linked to major depressive disorder.
