VEGFA and cancer: In growing cancers, endothelial cells are vigorously active because of the release of many proteins, such as EGF, estrogen, basic and acidic FGF, IL-8, prostaglandin E1 and E2, TNF-α, and VEGF, that can activate endothelial cell growth and motility when the anti-angiogenic factors’ production is reduced [32,38].
