Importantly, the hemocyte deficient dom1/l(3)hem2 mutant showed decreased eiger expression and JNK activity in the brains of transgenic flies exposed to enteric infection (Fig. 3e–g), indicating that enteric infection promoted brain recruitment of hemocytes, triggering TNF-JNK signaling and the exacerbation of AD.
