Thus, although TGF‐β induces the expression of ZEB1 and ZEB2, which function as key transcription factors in the induction of the EMT in various types of epithelial cells, TGF‐β signaling and ZEB1 and ZEB2 act in opposite ways in cancer cells in some contexts, including in the regulation of MDSCs, and they play distinct roles in cancer progression.
