ESR1 and major depressive disorder: In the eMERGE study from Children’s Hospital Boston with 107 ESR1 SNPs (Table H in S1 File), several SNPs display a slightly stronger association than rs2144025, but these SNPs tend to be in LD with each other and reside on the opposite allele to rs2144025.Upon splitting all of the psychiatric disorders into three subgroups–Anxiety, Depression, and Other–it appears that the apparent strength of the association in these other SNPs is primarily driven by the subset of individuals with anxiety.
