Immunohistochemical analysis of phosphorylated ribosomal protein-S6 (pS6), a marker of mTOR pathway activation, revealed strong expression (2+ or greater) in 95% of IBC tumor specimens, as well as in residual tissue after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with non-IBC, suggesting a possible mechanism of therapeutic resistance [48].
