Since transplantation from donors displaying NK-cell alloreactivity and expressing KIR2DS1 and/or KIR3DS1 has been associated with a reduced risk of no relapse mortality, that is largely infection related, and with significantly better event-free survival (38, 53), our results could further improve the selection of the most suitable donor, taking into account the expression of not only KIR3DS1 but also the self HLA-B allotype expressed. Here, HLA-B is linked to infection.
