Accordingly, in a cohort of 97 high‐grade breast cancer patients, a high extracellular matrix‐related gene expression profile (‘ECM3’, characterized by high SPARC and collagen expression) correlates with a high expression of EMT transcription factor (EMT‐TF) Twist1 and high numbers of infiltrating CD33‐positive myeloid cells (Sangaletti et al., 2016). This evidence concerns the gene TWIST1 and breast cancer.
