Interestingly, the tumor-suppressive function of ASPP1 has been recently demonstrated in a transgenic mouse study, showing that this function of ASPP1 in preventing the occurrence of hematological malignancy is both p53-dependent and -independent.7, 8 Although the p53-dependent mechanisms have been well demonstrated in the literature,9, 10 p53-independent mechanisms are yet kept largely unknown. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and hematologic disorder.
