Interestingly, it has been shown that ASPP family member ASPP2 influences pancreatic or colorectal cancer cells’ responses to chemotherapy-induced cell death by inhibiting autophagy.11, 12 ASPP2 has been reported to promote autophagy in liver cancers, which leads to autophagic cell death.13 ASPP1 is also essential in cell fates determination in response to cellular stresses.4, 14 However, whether it is involved in the regulation of the conversion between autophagy and apoptosis yet remains unknown. This evidence concerns the gene TP53BP2 and colorectal cancer.
