Visfatin increase in type-2 DM patients was related to heart failure and acute coronary syndromes [36,37,38,39]; visfatin appears to mediate vascular endothelial inflammation by inducing the expression of adhesion molecules (VCAM-1 and ICAM-1) and pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α [40].
