One paper describing gene–environment interactions for asthma identified in the earlier review [(16), p. 1032–1035] described an interaction between a variant coding for toll-like receptor 2 (rs 4696480) and living on a farm for both asthma and atopy [(30), p. 1117–1124], but this could not be replicated in other populations subsequently [(29), p. 138; Jan-144]. The gene discussed is TLR2; the disease is asthma.
