Hyperinsulinemia can increase the sympathetic tone, activate the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, stimulate the vascular inflammation, reduce the flow-mediated endothelium-dependent vasodilatation, deplete the nitric oxide or disturb the nitric oxide-mediated vasodilatation, and promote the sodium reabsorption [13–15].
