TETs were recently found to play a role in the mechanism responsible for DNA demethylation.(41) Furthermore, TET1 has been shown to inhibit gastric cancer growth and metastasis,(49) and TET activity is decreased by excessive glucose.(50) The results shown in Fig. 2 and 3 revealed that 5hmC levels and TET1 expression were decreased by the treatment with TNF-α. Here, TET1 is linked to gastric cancer.
