The long-acting analogues are an alternative for insulin NPH in patients who: 1) need help with injecting insulin and for whom the use of long-acting analogues will reduce the frequency of insulin injections from 2 to 1 per day, 2) patient’s activity is reduced by recurring symptomatic hypoglycaemia symptoms, 3) an alternative for the analogue is 2 injections of insulin NPH combined with oral diabetes medication [8, 9].
