Sesn2 has been assigned a protective role in preventing age-related pathologies,11 maintaining metabolic homeostasis in mouse liver and adipose tissue,12 modulating pain processing after peripheral nerve injury13 and in the mammalian heart during ischemic insults.8 Furthermore, inactivation of Sesn2 improves lung function in a mouse model of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which is associated with upregulation of the mTORC1 pathway.14 Here, SESN2 is linked to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
