SHBG and metabolic syndrome: Recently, Brand and colleagues performed an updated meta-analysis from 20 observational studies and showed that men with low concentrations of TT, SHBG or FT were more likely to have prevalent MetS (odds ratios per quartile decrease were 1.69, 1.73 and 1.46 for TT, SHBG and FT, respectively) and incident MetS (odds ratios per quartile decrease were 1.25, 1.44 and 1.14 for TT, SHBG and FT, respectively) after adjusting for age and lifestyle factors15.
