In the cancer cell line, long LRCs and potential chaotic motifs are entangled in such a way to support both strong variations in the expression of certain genes, i.e. those within long feedback loops, such as EGR1 (a regulator of multiple tumour suppressor genes (70)) and a very limited variation in the expression of others, i.e. those residing at the end of LRCs, such as IRF1 (an essential regulator of growth of leukaemia and other cancer cell types (38–40)). Here, IRF1 is linked to neoplasm.
