Previous studies suggested that the rs16906252 T allele results in reduced promoter activity and MGMT expression [7] and is associated with MGMT methylation in glioblastoma [15, 16], colorectal cancer [18, 25, 26], and in a subset of malignant pleural mesothelioma patients[25]. This evidence concerns the gene MGMT and malignant pleural mesothelioma.
