BAK1 and breast cancer: Employing an miRNA array, Zhou and colleagues identified that miR-125b, miR-221, miR-222, and miR-923 are upregulated in paclitaxel-resistant BC cells, and found that miR-125b caused a marked inhibition of taxol-induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis through the suppression of Bak1 (pro-apoptotic Bcl2 antagonist killer 1) expression [21].
