CD34 and acute myeloid leukemia: CD123 is the α subunit of interleukin-3 receptor (IL3R), which is expressed across AML blasts, CD34+ leukemic progenitors, and AML-LSCs but hardly on normal HSCs (Jordan et al., 2000; Florian et al., 2006; He et al., 2015), thus rendering CD123 a potential target for AML cells.
