In addition, as shown in Supplementary Table S1, A/G (Lys/Glu) and A/A (Lys/Lys) genotypes of ALDH2 significantly decrease the risk of gout (P = 3.8 × 10−19 and 4.8 × 10−7; OR = 0.45 and 0.41, respectively) as compared with the G/G (Glu/Glu) genotype; however, there is no significant difference in effect sizes on gout between A/G (Lys/Glu) and A/A (Lys/Lys) genotypes (P = 0.71), and the OR is close to 1.00 (OR = 1.09; 95% CI: 0.75–1.62). This evidence concerns the gene ALDH2 and gout.
