The authors also found that inhibition of PLK1 in the TP53‐mutant MPNST cell lines, both by small compound inhibition and by siRNA‐mediated gene knockdown, led to the induction of polyploidy, which was in contrast to TP53 wild‐type or TP53−/− sarcoma cell lines where PLK1 inhibition led to G2 arrest and apoptosis (Nair and Schwartz, 2015).
