Genetic aberrations in the ALK gene were first described in anaplastic large cell lymphoma by Morris and colleagues [1] as part of an oncogenic fusion protein resulting from the translocation between chromosomes 2 and 5 (t[2;5] [p23;q35]) (NPM-ALK - Nucleophosmin- anaplastic lymphoma kinase). Here, ALK is linked to anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
