The presence of NK cells was found to be critical for the antitumor efficacy induced by Mix + GalCer vaccine since 80% of NK-cell depleted mice were unable to reject the tumor (p = 0.01 compared to treated mice with no depletion), whereas neither CD4+ nor CD8+ T cell depletion had a deleterious effect in the antitumor efficacy of the vaccine (100% survival) (Fig. 6).
