In a study of 1,433 subjects from 35 cohorts with various risks of atherosclerosis such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and dylipidemia, and patients with positive or negative angiography findings, there was a strong positive correlation between AIP and cholesterol esterification rates in apoB-lipoprotein-depleted plasma, an indirect measure of LDL-C particle size [7]. Here, APOB is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
