At 3 months of age, we assessed in situ [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake using positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging and found that there was a tendency for p53−/− AMPK β1−/− mice to have increases in thymic FDG uptake compared to p53−/− AMPK β1+/+ mice (Fig. 1A), suggesting earlier tumor onset in p53−/− AMPK β1−/− compared to p53−/− AMPK β1+/+ mice.
