ADAR and glioblastoma: Incidentally, similarly growth-suppressive or tumor-suppressive functions have been ascribed to ADAR1 by recent studies, particularly in the contexts of melanoma17, 38 and glioblastoma.39 Intriguingly, there exists an important parallelism between these two disease types – reported tumor-associated reduction in ADAR expression attenuates editing of particular microRNAs, thus raising their tumorigenic potential.
