Mammalian Bombesins (BN) are a family of growth receptors (gastrin-releasing peptide receptors (GRPR), neuromedin B receptor (NMBR) and Bombesin receptor subtype 3 (BRS3)) which are frequently overexpressed by a number of common cancers such as prostate, breast, lung, gastric, malignant gliomas and colon [163]. The gene discussed is NMBR; the disease is cancer.
