Apart from one patient with coexisting MS and hypothyroidism (patient 43), who showed highly elevated serum levels of antibodies against CGRP (>50-fold higher than the level for any other individuals in any group), none of the other patients with coexisting CNS demyelinating disease and AITD showed antibody levels higher than the levels for healthy individuals or other MS patients (data not shown). This evidence concerns the gene CALCA and demyelinating disease of central nervous system.
