We have reported previously that celecoxib, a non-antibiotic agent in combination with an antibiotic (ampicillin) managed infection and inflammation caused due to S. aureus in macrophage model via activation of SIRT1 (Annamanedi and Kalle, 2014), a master regulator of inflammation (Salminen et al., 2008). This evidence concerns the gene SIRT1 and infection.
