At the molecular level, knockdown of Mettl3 and/or Mettl14 resulted in the upregulation of several oncogenes, including the genes encoding ADAM metallopeptidase domain 19 (ADAM19), EPH receptor A3 (EPHA3), and Kruppel-like factor 4 (KLF4), and downregulation of tumor suppressors such as genes encoding cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor 2A (CDKN2A), breast cancer 2, early onset (BRCA2), and tumor protein (TP53l11). This evidence concerns the gene METTL3 and breast carcinoma.
