At the same time, the deregulation of the E-cadherin mediated cell adhesion system is correlated closely with cellular invasion, angiogenesis and metastatic progression in many cancers including colorectal cancer.8 The expression pattern of E-cadherin has been identified as an important prognostic factor for assessing tumor grade of colorectal cancer.9 Subsequently, we speculate that there may be close relationships between the expression of CD133, WWOX and E-cadherin in colorectal cancer tissues.
