The differential diagnosis for HIV infected people with abdominal USG findings as seen in this study (enlarged lymph nodes, hepatosplenomegaly, bowel loop thickening), especially considering the low CD4 cell count of our cases, would mainly be disseminated non-tuberculous mycobacteria- Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC), fungal diseases like histoplasmosis, gram negative enteric infections like salmonellosis, Kaposi’s sarcoma and lymphomas [26]. This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and Kaposi's sarcoma.
