Modulation of SAI in M1 has been shown to predict long-term response to a cholinesterase inhibitor in Alzheimer's disease (Di Lazzaro et al., 2005b) and have been shown to distinguish between non-amnestic patients and amnestic patients with mild cognitive impairment (Nardone et al., 2012). This evidence concerns the gene BCHE and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
