FGF23 and cardiac hypertrophy: Of note, animals on high phosphate diet for 6 months exhibited significantly lower FGF23 levels than animals that were fed the diet for 3 months (Fig. 3c), which was also accompanied by a slight reduction of cardiac hypertrophy that missed statistical significance (Fig. 3a,e,f), but not of cardiac fibrosis (Fig. 3a,g).
