There are several classes of pharmacological agents which have been used in the treatment of hypertension, and one class of antihypertensive drugs known as angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors is associated with a low rate of adverse side effects and is the preferred class of antihypertensive agents when treating patients with concurrent secondary diseases or cardiovascular diseases (Zaman et al.
