As endoglin acts as a co-receptor for bone morphogenetic protein 9 (BMP9), BMP10, TGFβ1, and TGFβ3 ligands (Castonguay et al., 2011, Cheifetz et al., 1992, Scharpfenecker et al., 2007), we used a separate group of wild-type C57BL/6 mice (without CDCs) to examine the relative levels of these ligands in infarcted myocardium, as well as in serum, during the first week after MI. The gene discussed is BMP10; the disease is myocardial infarction.
