As endoglin acts as a co-receptor for bone morphogenetic protein 9 (BMP9), BMP10, TGFβ1, and TGFβ3 ligands (Castonguay et al., 2011, Cheifetz et al., 1992, Scharpfenecker et al., 2007), we used a separate group of wild-type C57BL/6 mice (without CDCs) to examine the relative levels of these ligands in infarcted myocardium, as well as in serum, during the first week after MI. Here, TGFB1 is linked to myocardial infarction.
