The virus‐induced increase in expression of AGO2 and AGO5 in cassava is similar to that in N. benthamiana, in which Potato virus X infection increases AGO5 expression and AGO5 acts synergistically with AGO2 to suppress virus infection to a greater degree than the other AGO proteins (Brosseau and Moffett, 2015). This evidence concerns the gene AGO2 and viral infectious disease.
