CRP and metabolic syndrome: In univariate linear regression analysis, thinner RNFL thickness was significantly associated with older age (P<0.001), male gender (P<0.001), higher systolic blood pressure (P = 0.001) and higher prevalence of arterial hypertension (P<0.001), while body mass index, smoking, alcohol consumption, diastolic blood pressure, blood concentration of glucose, triglycerides, low-density lipoproteins, high-density lipoproteins and C-reactive protein and prevalence of dyslipidemia were not significantly associated with the RNFL thickness (Table 1).
