This family of proteins have not been well-studied in the context of glioma, although tantalizing initial evidence suggests that Sirtuin-1 is actually required for gliomagenesis (Lee et al., 2015) and inhibition of Sirtuin-1 through miR-22 (which also targets EGFR and matrix metalloprotease 9) slows the growth and invasiveness of U-87 and U-251 glioma cells (Chen et al., 2016).
