CD248 and infection: Although the presence of other β‐lactamases in PA7 and/or potential bacterial lysis resulted in non‐specific cleavage of the CCF2 substrate within host cells infected with the wild‐type strain, significant levels of coumarin fluorescing cells following infection with a strain containing PumA‐TEM1 (Appendix Fig S3B) suggest that PumA is translocated into host cells during infection.
