MYC and colorectal carcinoma: Recently, the CRC Subtyping Consortium have proposed four consensus molecular subtypes (CMSs) of CRC with distinguishing features: CMS1 (microsatellite instability immune), hypermutated, microsatellite unstable and strong immune activation; CMS2 (canonical), epithelial, marked Wnt and V-Myc avian myelocytomatosis viral oncogene homolog signaling activation; CMS3 (metabolic), epithelial and evident metabolic dysregulation; and CMS4 (mesenchymal), prominent transforming growth factor-β activation, stromal invasion and angiogenesis [31].
